Relics of Industry

Forms of Unmaking

I took these photos over a long weekend in Western Massachusetts, and a visit to MASS MoCA. As these relics of industry decay we lose any sense of their original purpose. What remains is an enduring sense of complexity and ingenuity, and a disbelief that people live among spaghetti networks of metal pipes and motors and holding tanks. However one feels about industry, these photos capture the bones of a faith in mechanical creativity.
