Lines of Power
In my sophomore year at college I took a studio painting and drawing class. For three hours on Friday afternoons, we used ink and newsprint to explore different still life arrangements or nude models. I recall the teacher encouraging us to see and use the “lines of power” in whatever we happened to be viewing. It’s a technique that has influenced my photography for decades. The images in this gallery conduct energy along clear visual paths, sometimes naturally and at other times intrusively.
